Repair of electronic boards - FAQ
Introduction
This section refers to the "electronic repair" service found in the list of services offered by Pianeta Elettronica ("Services" menu item). Given the high number of questions we are asked about this activity, we have decided to dedicate a complete in-depth section to it.

How the service works
The customer contacts Pianeta Elettronica (by email, telephone or the estimate section of the site) for a repair.
Pianeta Elettronica collects all possible information on the problem and has the card physically delivered (at one of the company's offices) to analyze it. 

The analysis of the card costs 15 euros, has an average duration of 48h, and concludes with the identification of the fault and the estimate for the repair.
The customer decides whether to proceed with the repair or not.

Who is the service aimed at?
The service is aimed at everyone (companies and individuals) even if it was born as a service for companies for the repair of large machinery and industrial tools. The service may not be convenient for individuals who want to repair a simple household appliance or in any case a low-cost electronic device (see next paragraph).

Convine to repair an electronic boardto?
It depends on the card and the situation. If the market value of the card does not exceed 200 euros (obviously it is an approximate estimate) it is generally not worthwhile because it is often possible to buy it new again for the same cost.
If the card is no longer on the market or if it is not possible to have the support of the parent company to solve the problem, this service can be very useful, if not crucial.
In fact, only the repair, in this case, would represent the alternative to the complete replacement of the system (if, for example, the card managed an air conditioning system).

What are the brands of the boards that Pianeta Elettronica repairs?
not there is a particular brand that Pianeta Elettronica repairs. We are not partners of a  electronic boards or household appliances.
Pianeta Elettronica is an "independent" laboratory and is able to analyze any electronic board
present on the market.

Are boards tested after repair? How?
This is perhaps the most important question of this service so we ask the reader to read this point carefully.
When repair is possible, the boards are repaired and delivered only after being tested by the Pianeta Elettronica team. However, the test can only be performed if you have all the necessary elements to do so and therefore to make the card work.
If the card needs to be connected to its original system (for example if it was an air conditioner) or appliance (for example if it was a washing machine card) it will not be possible to carry out the complete test and therefore only a partial test will be performed which it will allow you to have the guarantee of the work only in certain conditions (e.g. card off).

In this case, the customer is informed in advance and in order to continue the work he must accept the particular operating method that will be followed.
The laboratory in fact, in this case,  does not have the ability to provide guarantees on the repair (not being able to verify the result) but it can
only ensure the correctness of the replacement work of the changed component(s).

What can be repaired?
Virtually any board can be repaired, as long as the parts that contain programming code (which you usually don't own), system boot code (ROM), or electronic components that are no longer commercially available (and for which there is no equivalent component). In the worst case scenario, in which the board cannot be repaired, a solution will still be proposed to the customer which involves the redesign and reconstruction of apart of it.

Is the repair always successful?
No. The repair can also fail. This often happens when the card has been modified (therefore the components present on it are not the original ones) or when someone has already tried to repair it without having the right skills and tools to do it. However, when the Pianeta Elettronica team confirms the feasibility of the repair, it is certain that the repair will be successful.

Is it possible to ask to replace only one component?
Certain. In this case the analysis will not be performed (and therefore paid for) but only the replacement of the indicated component. Obviously the company assumes no responsibility in the event that the changed component is not the "right" one (that is, to be replaced to repair the card).

Is it possible to bring spare parts instead of having them purchased from the company?
Certain. The only thing to keep in mind is that in this case the warranty on the work is void because the components have not been purchased from trusted (and therefore guaranteed) suppliers of Pianeta Elettronica.

Comand does the repair take place physically?
Once the analysis has been carried out and the fault has been identified, the damaged components will be replaced with new spare parts. If any tracks, wires or connectors have been damaged, they are restored. Before returning the system is tested (where possible) to verify its correct functioning.

How long does it take for the repair?
It depends on the fault and the shipping time of the spare parts. Assuming that the spare parts are already present, the time needed to repair a board can vary from a few hours (the best case in which only a few components are damaged) to a few days (more complex cases)

How much does it cost repair?
It depends on the fault. On average, we start from an average cost of 50 euros if the problem is really simple (replacement of some easily available commercially available electronic component). 

What guarantees are given and how long do they last?
The guarantee lasts 2 years and is given (by law)on the replaced component(s). 

What should I bring at the time of delivery?
In addition to the broken card, it is advisable to bring all the material (if available) relating to it (technical documents of the card, instruction manuals, instruction booklets, power supplies, cables and connectors that were connected to the card)

What should I do if the item breaks again right after the repair?
Contact the Pianeta Elettronica assistance center again. One of our team technicians will try to understand what caused the new fault and will guide the customer towards the new solution.  

Subscription service - new  
If you have a company that uses technical instrumentation (of any kind) you will certainly need maintenance and, in the worst cases, technical repairs.

It is a necessary activity (sooner or later everything breaks down or in any case wears out) which generally requires the presence of a specialized technician in the company (or to find one on the fly when needed), the right tools to be able to operate (or go to buy on the fly) and spare parts, without which the repair would not be possible (unless the fault is not trivial).
All of these generally  have rather high costs and require a certain amount of luck (finding everything you need in the moment of emergency).
But there is a way to make all this much easier, like drinking a glass of water!

Pianeta Elettronica technicians come immediately on site when a technical fault occurs, bringing with them the necessary spare parts, the right tools to perform the job and knowing exactly what they have to do.
How is it possible?
Pianeta Elettronica first prepares, well in advance, to solve all the problems of the case at the customer's site. Preliminary inspections are organized in which all the working tools and machinery are listed and analysed. Training sessions are organized for their maintenance and repair, to be prepared when an unexpected problem arises.
The spare parts (at least the most difficult to find on the market) are purchased in advance to have them available when needed, therefore without waiting for shipping times, and with the guarantee of their functioning (they are tested first).

All this guarantees in most cases the repair of the fault and therefore the "restart" of the activity in less than 48h, at a cost that is certainly much lower than what the customer would pay by doing everything by himself in an emergency situation ( and with worry not even being able to solve the problem).
